Letter 49

UnknownAprunculus|c. 504 AD|ruricius limoges
From: Ruricius, bishop of Limoges
To: Aprunculus, bishop
Date: ~504 AD
Context: A letter sent purely out of affection, without any specific business — Ruricius writes just because mutual love demands it.

Bishop Ruricius to Bishop Aprunculus.

The bond of mutual love has compelled me to send a letter to Your Holiness, who is inseparable from me, for the sole reason of affection — even if no other occasion had presented itself. For it would be wrong if the obligations of love, which grow with the passage of time, should be starved by the distance between us. And so I write simply to say: I miss you, I pray for you, and I long to see your face.
