Letter 26

UnknownApollinaris (son of Sidonius)|c. 495 AD|ruricius limoges
From: Ruricius, bishop of Limoges
To: Apollinaris (son of Sidonius)
Date: ~495 AD
Context: Ruricius reports on his return from a journey that was both demanding and spiritually profitable.

Bishop Ruricius to his dear Apollinaris — greetings.

Since you are always kind enough to care about my affairs out of mutual love, I report to your attentive devotion and devout attentiveness that we have returned from a journey that was certainly demanding but, by God's grace, also rewarding. It could have been of great benefit to us if our understanding had matched our intention and our insight had followed our effort.
