To Clearchus. (363 AD)
You should have received my friend from my own hands. But since you were hurrying to the gates and he was not yet there, remember what I said on his behalf. Honor my letter by showing it had as much power as if I were introducing the good Hyperechius to your friendship with my right hand.

Ἀλλ’ ἔδει μέν σε ἐκ τῶν ἐμῶν χειρῶν δεδέχθαι τὸν ἑταῖ-
ρον· ἐπεὶ δὲ σὺ μὲν ἠπείγου πρὸς τὰς πύλας, ὁ δ’ οὐ παρῆν,
ἃ μὲν ὑπὲρ αὐτοῦ διείλεγμαι, μέμνησο· τίμησον δέ μοι τὴν
ἐπιστολὴν δείξας ὡς ἠδυνήθη τοσοῦτον ὅσον ἂν ἐγὼ τὸν
χρηστὸν Ὑπερέχιον εἰς τὴν σὴν φιλίαν εἰσάγων τῇ δεξιᾷ.
