Letter 786

LibaniusἈλβανίῳ|libanius

To Albanius. (362/63)

I rejoice at your letters and far more at what you are doing. For I hear that you are maintaining your estate, performing your civic duties gladly, and building a reputation for eloquence.

Do not grow weary, then, of benefiting both yourself and me. For the same effort will make you powerful among your fellow citizens and will send their sons to me.

Modern English rendering for readability. See the 19th-century translation or original Latin/Greek for scholarly use.
