Context: Hormisdas complains that two Roman bishops sent to Constantinople were not properly received and were even excluded from communion.

We have learned that our brothers and fellow bishops Thomas and Nicostratus were not received at Constantinople as we had desired and as they themselves had always hoped. Not only were the positions due to them reportedly taken away, but they were even excluded from communion.
