Letter 4041
Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)→Unknown|gregory great
From: Pope Gregory I
To: The Clergy, Order, and People of Hortona [Ortona]
Date: ~594 AD
Context: Gregory writes to the community of Ortona
Brothers and sisters of Hortona, I write in the spirit of the pastoral care this see owes to every community under its charge. The Christian life you are called to live — in faith, in charity, in the support of your clergy and the care of your poor — is the same in your city as everywhere else in the Church. Whatever matters have required attention from this see, I address through those I have appointed. What I ask of you is what I ask of all: live as befits those who bear the name of Christ, and support the ministry of the Church in your midst.
