Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)→Unknown|gregory great
**From:** Gregory I, Bishop of Rome
**To:** Eusebia, Patrician Lady
**Date:** ~603 AD
**Context:** Exhorts her to care more for the soul than for worldly concerns.
Noble lady, I urge you — indeed I implore you — to set aside your preoccupation with the things of this world and attend to what belongs to the soul. The concerns that press upon us in daily life are real enough, but they pass. What endures is the state in which we present ourselves before God. I write this not to judge you but out of genuine care. You have the means and the position to do great good. Use them wisely, and do not let the weight of earthly affairs crowd out what truly matters.
