Letter 11019
Gregory the Great (Wisigothic)→Unknown|gregory great
From: Pope Gregory I
To: Paschasius, Bishop of Naples
Date: ~601 AD
Context: Gregory urges Paschasius to arrange the transfer of the relics of Saint Severinus
The matter of the relics of blessed Severinus has been pending for too long. John, a servant of God known to you, has indicated that the arrangements for their transfer can now be made, and I urge you to proceed without further delay. Such relics are a gift of God to the faithful, and the devotion they inspire is not a matter to be treated lightly or left to chance. Work with John to see that the holy remains are translated with all due reverence and that the people are given the opportunity to honor them properly. Report to me when this has been accomplished.
